“It’s something between me and my children. We have a song – it’s called ‘Pump It Up’. I don’t know how many of you guys know that. It’s quite an old song. Good rhythm.” - Novak Djokovic, on his trademark fist pump, and an awesome song, that could be responsible for a new hole in my ceiling!
🎙 Leading Off
Well, well, well….I might be onto something. Draymond Green decries the death of Free Agency and claims he is the rightful heir to the NBA Player’s Association President throne. Draymond tested the free agent waters in 2023 only to re-sign with the Warriors for the same amount Myles Turner just received. Bitter my guy? Perhaps you would’ve found a frothier market had you not slugged a teammate in the face. IDK? I too miss Free Agency, and it’s trajectory over the next 10 years is something to watch.
Patrick Bailey hit a three-run walk-off inside the park homer (the first since 2016) as the Giants took down Philly. Bailey is the first catcher with an inside the park walk off since 1926. This happens all the time in Little League and I love to see the pros incorporating it into their game.

Shall I refresh your champagne sir? Too busy with your silly American work life to enjoy the Tennis? Well, here’s a catch up on the All England Club where the only thing whiter than the required uniforms are the strawberries and cream our British Cousins are gobbling down.
Headlines
- Both brackets, women’s in particular, were riddled with early round exits from Contenders. #2 seed Coco Gauff ducked out in the first round. Brit Jack Draper, the men’s #4 seed, fell in the second. This was not the year to hammer favorites. On the women’s side, Aryna Sabalenka is cruising to perhaps her first Wimbledon title and third major. The Miami based Belarusian has waltzed into the semis and is hunting her first finals as the #1 seed. Can American Amanda Anisimova stand in her way?
- Speaking of Americans, Taylor Fritz needs to summon everything he’s got to knock off Carlos Alcaraz Friday in the men’s semis. Fritz outlasted Ben Shelton as the final American Hope. Does he have a chance against Alcaraz? No. With two days off between matches, Alcaraz is reportedly looking to hit the links. His concern levels with Fritz are non-existant. He’s two wins away from being back in Ibiza as the French and Wimbledon champ.
- Djokovic is the greatest tennis player of all time. Woops! It’s the truth. At time of writing, he’s battling Flavio Cobolli in the quarterfinals. Bow out Flav. Should Djoko advance, he’ll face #1 seed Jannik Sinner next. At 23, Sinner already has a delicate reputation on tour due to a failed drug test, a conveniently timed appeal, and a 3 month suspension but no admission of guilt. Sinner has 3 major titles. A long way to go to catch Djokovic’s 24. Novak isn’t ready to pass the torch yet, and he surely doesn’t want to give it to someone with more of a needle appetite than the infamously “body is a temple” Djoko.
Finals
Women’s Saturday, Men’s Sunday. Get up. Turn on the tube. Get your saucer of cream and have a great day.
